How do I get a garden plot at the Jardin Mile End ?

Renting a plot at Jardin Mile End is simple. Here’s everything you need to know to get started.

Step 1 – Join the Waitlist

For information on joining the waitlist, visit this page (French only).

Please note that as of April 2026 we have over 750 on the waitlist. We generally have only 20–30 spaces that become available each year so please understand it may take some years before you receive a garden.

Here is the direct link to sign up for the waiting list. (French only)

Step 2 – Lot Allocation

Once a plot is available, you'll be assigned one based on availability and your preferences. Plots come in different sizes to suit individual gardeners and families.

Step 3 – Pay Your Annual Dues

Annual dues set by the JME are $15 as of Spring 2026. These dues are used to maintain the shared space and complete special projects within the garden.

The City also collects $15 or $25 per year, depending on plot size. Moving forward, only new half-plots will be available, so the City fee will also be $15.

Step 4 – Start Growing!

Once your dues are paid, your plot is yours for the season. You'll have access to the garden during opening hours, shared tools, and our composting station. Optional add-ons like compost and straw are available for purchase.

You will also be expected to follow the garden rules, which you can find outlined here.

Season Dates

The growing season typically runs from March–April to October–November. Renewal notices are usually sent out in February.
